Devotional
Just about every meeting, conversation and revelation given by Christ was done around a meal. Jesus was more than regularly eating with His disciples, friends, religious leaders, politicians and every day folks. Some of the most significant events took place over a meal. After raising Jairus's daughter[29] to the preaching of the five thousand,[30] we hear Jesus saying, "Give them something to eat." What is the significance of this? Do you think that these instances were about food? No. They were all about fellowship. There is something personal about eating together. When we share sustenance, we share life. As food satisfies the body, fellowship over food can satisfy the soul. Here is the main reason that families should dine together regularly. I know that in our hurry-up world that it is often difficult to set time aside for the family to sit together over a meal, but think about the value Jesus put on eating with His disciples. A family that eats together is together.
