Title

Sins' Weightiness

Scripture
For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
(Psalm 38:4)
Devotional
Sin is a way-too-heavy load to carry. It will always cost us more than we are willing to pay, take us further than we want to go and keep us longer than we wish to stay. Let us not forget who wrote this Psalm: David a man after God's own heart. Here I believe is one of the main reasons God loved David so; he recognized his sin, was quick to confess it and would immediately repent. The phrase, "My iniquities have gone over my head," is a clear picture to of sin. No matter how we may attempt to tread in its waters, in due time, we will inevitably drown. Whenever we find ourselves weighed down in our own wrong doings, let us do like David: recognize it, confess it to a faithful and just God,[39] and immediately turn from it. No matter how seemingly pleasurable sin may appear, like a heavy burden, it is too heavy to bear.
