Title

The Devil Can't Make You, But He Can Offer

Scripture
The devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish."
(Luke 4:6)
Devotional
Let us not forget to whom the devil was speaking, Christ Jesus the Lord. Likewise consider what he was offering Him. The devil was speaking as if he actually had the authority to give Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. To an extent he did and he does. The dark kingdoms of this world are under the partial control of the evil one. He is. "The prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience."[37] As Jesus knew and as He instructs us, Satan is a liar and the father of lies.[38] He indeed may have things to offer, but they come with conditions that no one would ever want to meet. The old story, The Devil and Daniel Webster has an element of truth to it. But that is just like the devil; at best he will speak with an element of truth. And a partial truth equates to a whole lie. Do not be enticed by deals that are less than honest and noble. Watch out for offers that are too no good to be true.
