It Is Good To Suffer

Scripture
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
(Matthew 5:4)
Devotional
One of my favorite Proverbs is "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."[10] It says in essence to the believer, that no matter what, all our problems are temporary; and that no matter what hand life deals, in the end we win. We are furthermore promised, "God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."[11] I have also found that the greatest growth and maturity comes through the gates of mourning. I have seldom learned anything of any level of value in the hallways of laughter. We are told in the book of Ecclesiastes, "Sorrow is better than laughter, for by a sad countenance the heart is made better."[12] Let us always remember, especially when mourning, that these things are so. We can explicitly trust the Word of God.
