Do not envy the oppressor, and choose none of his ways; for the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, but His secret counsel is with the upright.

Devotional
Oppressive people often appear to accomplish their evil deeds and prosper. They get attention along with a perverted fame. Nevertheless, they are repulsive to the Lord and their ways are to be repulsive to us. Those who violate the laws and precepts of God are at their best wicked. They are not to be envied or mimicked. No matter how successful they may appear in their endeavors, the end of their ways will be the way of death. Though they may again appear to have succeeded in their oppressive ways, they have no peace. The enemies of the Lord will always be fugitives of His justice, but no matter where they go, you can be sure that their sin will find them out. Therefore side with Him who gives true counsel and flee from him who would oppress you. Choose the secrets of God over the secrets of man. Why should you parish?
