Title

Lies are Lousy Foundations

Scripture
Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. ,
(Proverbs 4:24)
Devotional
We are not to lie to one another in any degree. We are not to speak deceitfully in any realm. That is, we are not to speak blatant lies, little white lies or any form of misleading speech. They are all to be categorized as lying. We are not to stretch the truth nor are we to speak a partial truth. Anything other than the clear unadulterated truth is a lie. We are not to spin or twist the truth. We are to do our level best to be clearly understood. A truth told deceptively is a lie. We are not to pervert our words for the purpose of deceiving or misleading. If you cannot tell the truth, the whole truth, do not speak at all. If you find yourself being misleading or blatantly lying, stop and clarify your words. For if you tell one lie, you will have to build on it; and lies are lousy foundations. Lies multiply to themselves. Jesus clearly instructs us, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."[18]
