Title

Fall Upon Mercy Lest Judgment Falls Upon You

Scripture
Whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.
(Matthew 21:44)
Devotional
To fall upon the mercies of Christ is to be broken of our ways and yielded to His. To have His judgment fall on us is to fail to repent and to be ground beyond remedy. The apostle Peter explains it this way, "Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,’ and ‘a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.’ They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.”[1] We have a choice, we can fall upon the grace and mercy of Christ or His judgment can fall upon us. We must be broken of our ways. We must relent and repent of those things that keep us from the salvation that is found in Christ alone. Disobedience demands judgment, and judgment is without mercy. However mercy triumphs over judgment[2] when we fall upon the mercy of Christ.
