Title

The Cup of Life

Scripture
Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.
(Matthew 23:26)
Devotional
Here we have insight and understanding of a pharisaic lifestyle. It is superficial, external and without depth - a mere façade. Like a termite-infested house with a fresh coat of paint, it may look good, but its foundation and superstructure is weak and flawed. If we fail to clean out the termites of our minds, our bodies will eventually reveal our true character. What we think we have the potential to do. Whether good or bad, the thoughts of man have greater power than his or her actions. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”[1] We can and must control our thinking. If we find ourselves dwelling on the negative, the negative will soon manifest itself in our situations. If we focus our thoughts on the good that we know, good will manifest itself in our circumstances. Therefore let us make and keep our thoughts pure and clean. Let us focus on the inside of the cups of our lives and the outsides will follow suit.
