Title

Minister Understanding

Scripture
At the window of my house I looked...and saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, a young, man devoid of understanding
(Proverbs 7:6-7)
Devotional
Youth can and does attain great abilities, talents, intelligence and knowledge, but it takes time and maturity to gain understanding. Youth does not understand this. A wise young man or woman will begin to acquire understanding when they begin to realize that they do not yet have all the answers or even the right questions. It takes years of days to gain understanding. It takes countless experiences to attain to it. The vitality and energy of youth appears to be clear and fresh, but more than often is clouded by a lack of understanding. Those who have gained a level of it through the passing of years need to likewise remember the days of their youth, and understand that the youth of today are little different than the youth of yesteryear. Therefore understanding is patient and merciful. It smiles at and with the vigor and spontaneity of adolescents. Its lack does not justify sin, but its gain minister to the young - lest we forget and lose our understanding.
