Title

The Only Way Ever

Scripture
This I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets.
(Acts 24:14)
Devotional
The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New. There were two covenants, but only one that brings eternal forgiveness of sin. The Jews were not and are not saved by one covenant, and the rest of the world by another. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”(1)
It was more than appropriate for the apostle Paul to refer to faith in Christ as “The Way”. Jesus Himself clearly said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”(2) Furthermore, the entirety of the law and the prophets all point to Christ. As you and I look back to Calvary for our salvation, those prior to Calvary looked forward to it. The patriarchs of old look to the coming of the Messiah for their salvation just as we look back to it.

(1) Acts 4:12, (2) John 14:6
Thought For The Night
“There are very few who in their hearts do not believe in God, but what they will not do is give Him exclusive right of way. ... They are not ready to promise full allegiance to God alone. Many a professing Christian is a stumbling-block because his worship is divided. On Sunday he worships God; on week-days God has little or no place in his thoughts.” Dwight L. Moody
