Title

God Blesses For His Glory

Scripture
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
(Psalm 23:5)
Devotional
God blesses His people so that the world would know that He is good and that He is God. He does not prepare a table in their presence to belittle or intimidate, but to show His mercy and kindness. Furthermore He does not anoint us for the sake of boasting, but for the sake of blessing. God does not feed our pride and arrogance. He feeds humility and mercy. The twenty-third Psalm is written to the glory of God and the edification of His people. The key to this wonderful Psalm is found in the phrase, "For His name's sake."[17] We are bearers of that name, Christians. The good that we receive is to bare witness of His grace. It is our testimony in the good times as well as in the valley of the shadow of death. His table will always be prepared for His obedient sheep, because He is the Good Shepherd.
