Title

Character of Jesus

Scripture
And Jesus… saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.
(Mark 6:34)
Devotional
Here we see the character of Jesus. He saw, He had compassion and He did something about what He had seen. Jesus was always aware of His surroundings. He observed people seeing them as they were, lost, without hope. And He taught them! What do you think were the "many things" that He taught them? Did He teach them the law? Did He teach them about their condition? I don't think so. I believe that He taught them about His grace and mercy. I am sure that He taught them how to live and get out of their hopeless state. He taught them with stories: The Pearl of Great Price, How the wise man Built His House, The Talents and many others. All had great temporal and eternal life applications. Jesus gave the people hope. He taught them how to live and succeed. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."[1]
