Words Of Value

Scripture
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the heart of the wicked is worth little...
(Proverbs 10:20-21)
Devotional
We must constantly ask ourselves, "Do my words build up or tear down?" Am I an edifier or a destroyer? Do my words add value or are they pretty much worthless. We must think about the things that we say and regularly evaluate our conversations. Are my discourses edifying or merely trivial? There is nothing wrong with commenting on the trivial things of life, but to make them the only course of conversation is of little value. If it were not for the weather and sports many folks would have little or nothing to say. Yet worse are those who can do nothing else other than complaining and blaming. They feed no one and bring about nothing but ruin. Their words die for lack of wisdom. Let this not be so among God's people. Let us do our level best to encourage, edify and bless. As the psalmist prayed, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."[1]
