Devotional
Balanced fear has a way of preserving life. There is an acceptable and an unacceptable fear. Reverential fear is healthy. Phobic fear is a hindrance to life. Reverential fear is a respect for that which brings chastisement, discipline or punishment. Phobias are irrational fears of the common events of life. The problem with many of us is that we fear life more than we fear God. We are out of line when we have more fear of what man thinks than what God thinks. We are irrational when we are fearful to communicate that which God has ordained for us to communicate. It is one thing to be fearful to stand at the edge of an abyss; it is quite another to be fearful to stand at the edge of God's will for your life. There is godly fear and there is worldly fear. One brings life and the other destroys it. If we truly learn the fear of the Lord, we will fear little else. Fear is a choice.
