Title

We Are To Be Lights In a Dark World

Scripture
Open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God
(Acts 26:18)
Devotional
No matter how much knowledge, scientific advancement, or scholarship this world may have, it remains in darkness without Christ. And a Christless world is under the power of Satan, the prince of darkness. On the other hand, those who have Christ have the light and the power of God. Daniel says it this way, “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” We are to be lights that shine in a darkened world. We are to turn those who are under the power of Satan to the power of Christ. This we accomplish by walking in obedience to Him, and thus manifesting godly success. When this lost and dying world sees the light of the day and the power of God, it will be without excuse, and have opportunity to be sanctified by Christ.

Defining: “Darkness to light”: Darkness is simply the absence of light. We cannot blame the dark on the darkness, but the light for not shining in the darkness.

Referencing: “It is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ,” 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Applying: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven,” Matthew 5:16.
