Title

Leadership Matters

Scripture
Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'"
(Mark 14:27)
Devotional
There has been much written on leadership in our day. President Harry Truman said of it, "The buck stops here." It is well known that "Everything rises and falls on leadership." The enemy of the brethren knows this truth very well. That is why he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. He never attacked the disciples for any other purpose than to get to Jesus. Judas was never his aim. His goal was always to strike the Shepherd. That is why we are repeatedly instructed to pray for our leaders. "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority."[1] If you are in a place of leadership, remember you will be and are held to a higher standard. You will be more scrutinized and called to account. The apostle James instructs, "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment."[2]
