Have You Forgotten?

Scripture
Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God...when...your silver and your gold are multiplied...and...you say in your heart, "My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth."
(Deuteronomy 8:11-17)
Devotional
The average church is made of average or below average income people. Why do you think that is so? Is it because wealthier folks are more intellectual and that faith in God is archaic? The fool has said so. The reason may be found in our text. When we were lowly in our own eyes and called on God to bless us, there was a greater need for His church. Yet, just like the children of Israel, when God prospered them they turned from Him. When He removed His hand of blessing, they turned back to Him. We have a tendency to forget from where our blessings come. We say in our hearts, "My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth." Thus, we have forgotten the Lord our God and have forsaken His commandments. Has God prospered you and have you foolishly taken the credit for His prosperity? Are you now too busy for church? Have you forgotten the prayers you once made and the needs you once had?
