Title

Is There An Achan In The Camp?

Scripture
The children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan
(Joshua 7:1)
Devotional
Joshua and the warriors of Israel had defeated far greater armies of Ai. Nevertheless Ai routed the armies of Israel because of the sin of one man, Achan. Achan took some of the accursed things. What were these things? They were a garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold.[7] These were part of the spoils of their victories. The problem arises in that these were to be consecrated to the Lord and go into the treasury of the Lord.[8] In essence, Achan kept back the offering that was to go to the Lord. Therefore that which belongs to God and is held back becomes the accursed thing. Achan was a leader of Israel. His disobedience brought defeat. The accursed thing has not changed. To keep back that which belongs to God is a trespass and brings defeat at our endeavors and the endeavors of God's people. Never forget, "The tithe is the Lord's."
