Title

Better An Obedient Servant

Scripture
A wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame, and will share an inheritance among the brothers.
(Proverbs 17:2)
Devotional
Loyalty and faithfulness work is better than nepotism. A slothful son or daughter may inherit the fortune of his or her parents, but a faithful servant will eventually usurp them. This will be done not to the shame of the servant, but to the shame of the successors. Likewise, there are no grandchildren in God's kingdom. All who enter do so by way of inheritance as adopted sons and daughters. A son or a daughter of a child of the King will not inherit the kingdom. This is reserved for the wise who will rule over those who cause shame. Therefore make sure that you are a faithful child of the king and a worthy inheritor of what has been bequeathed to you. Better a faithful servant than a shameful child. Better yet a faithful servant who is a child. These are those who receive and build their inheritance instead of squandering it.
