What Happens When The Leader Is Gone?

Scripture
Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year.
(2 Kings 13:20)
Devotional
"Everything rises and falls on leadership" is a tried and proven adage. Here Elisha, the spiritual leader of God's chosen people died. The very next thing that happened was that the land was invaded. Coincidental? By no means: the enemy of God, the devil (whom, by the way is real and alive and operating on the planet earth) is shrewd and cunning. He will not readily attack as long as there is godly leadership in place. Whenever a godly leader departs, be cautious; inevitably an enemy will test the waters. It is for this reason that there be in place an heir to leadership. One of the surest ways to develop a godly government and a successor to leadership is to have a plurality of leadership in place. Any system that cannot function without interruption and without any given person has a weak government. Moses had Joshua; David had Solomon and Elijah had Elisha. There is only one irreplaceable leader, Christ the Lord.
