Famous or Infamous

Scripture
He puts down one, and exalts another.
(Psalm 75:7)
Devotional
Someone once said that everyone has his or her fifteen minutes of fame. I do not know the truth of the statement, but I am sure that each of us has had times of notoriety. Most fame is local or within a peer group. Few have attained national or worldwide popularity or acclaim. Those who have, have done so most often at great personal cost. Even these are short lived. Fame comes and goes. Life is fragile and people are fickle. What is popular today is repulsed tomorrow. The only exception is with those God exults. If the Lord raises you up, you will not fade or fall out of style. Even if mankind does reject you, heaven will not. Therefore let us seek the favor of God, and He will grant us favor with man. If we attempt to find favor with man without first finding favor with God, instead of becoming famous, we will grow infamous. Remember, "God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another."
