Its Not Worth It

Scripture
"Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
(Proverbs 9:17)
Devotional
Obviously this text indicates that there is a certain level of thrill and pleasure in illicit affairs. Nevertheless these are games of intrigue in which all players loose. The book of Hebrews calls it, "Passing pleasures of sin."[23] Therefore avoid them. Run from them and by all means do not even flirt with them. For as sweet as they may be in the beginning, in the end you will, "Know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of hell."[24] Whether it is in the imagination of your mind, the dark pages of books, the hidden sights of the Internet or illicit physical affairs the fleeting pleasure will never be worth the endless cost. If the temptress or the tempter has intrigued you, listen to the warning of the prophet Ezekiel, "Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die."[25] No matter how sweet, no matter how seemingly pleasurable in the end it will be bitter and repulsive.
