Title

Fools Judge Luxury

Scripture
Luxury is not fitting for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule over princes.
(Proverbs 19:10)
Devotional
I have found that luxury is not only "Not fitting for a fool," but fools do not appreciate it or understand it. Here is an example of a foolish view of luxury: "As He (Jesus) sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard…she broke the flask and poured it on His head. But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, ‘Why was this fragrant oil wasted?’”[1] Luxury is not waste, if it were, then why did God create the beauty of nature and give man artistic abilities? The answer is simple, God desires for His people to enjoy the beauty of His luxury. Consider the garden in which Adam and Eve dwelt, Joseph’s coat of many colors, Solomon’s wealth and the tunic of Jesus. These by any standards were luxuries. Let a fool judge them. As for you, be blessed by them.
