Title

Take From the Rich and Give To the Poor

Scripture
He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.
(Proverbs 22:16)
Devotional
Wealth comes by the blessings of the Lord. “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.”(1) We are not to get our riches off of the backs of the poor. We simply are not to use people. Likewise, we are not to seek the favor of the wealthy by attempting to live their lifestyles. I have seen many go to financial ruin because they attempted to keep up with the proverbial Jones’s. Living above our means to impress the wealthy brings poverty and usually reproach. Likewise, using people for personal gain brings the wrath of God. There is no true gain to be attained by these methods. If you find yourself attempting to impress or use people for gain, you should stop. You cannot afford it. It will cost you more than you are able to pay. Instead, take from the rich and give to the poor: Take wisdom and advice and give hope and guidance. You will surely come to prosperity.
