Devotional
In whom are you placing your eternal trust? I know that the rhetorical answer for the believer will instinctively be "Christ." Nevertheless, I have found that many of us place that trust in another man's understanding of Christ instead of Christ Himself. We have a tendency to look to pastors, preachers and teachers more that we look to the one they represent. I am not at all indicating that we do not esteem or honor these officers of the church, but I am giving a warning that you and I will be held responsible for our own understanding. Therefore may I humbly give a word to pastors, preachers and teachers? Let us make sure that we are not seeking the trust of those whom we lead more than we are directing their trust to Christ. As one who has the awesome privilege and responsibility to hold this office, I pray that I will always understand that it is not about me and that it is all about Christ.
