Title

Job's Sin

Scripture
So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
(Job 32:1)
Devotional
Job erred in claiming his own righteousness, even though God said of him, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?"[1] For the scriptures hold true in both the Old and New Testament, "As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one’[2] Job spoke the truth about his deeds and actions, nevertheless his claims of righteousness could have only been attained in his redeemer. And yes, his Redeemer, like ours was Christ Jesus. There is no righteousness outside of Christ—none! Job’s “friends” were wrong in their assessment of Job’s condition. They were wrong in judging him. However, Job was just as wrong defending and justifying himself with anything other than the grace and mercy of God. The same holds true for you and me. Any claim to goodness we may aspire to can come only through Job’s Redeemer.
