The God-Who-Forgives

Scripture
You answered them, O Lord our God; You were to them God-Who-Forgives, though You took vengeance on their deeds.
(Psalm 99:8)
Devotional
God forgives the sinner, but never accepts the sin. Sin cannot be excused, it can only be forgiven. God hates our sin, but loves us. We in-turn are to hate sin, but likewise love the sinner. I do not know if it is possible to win those that we hate. Hate's desire is to defeat. Therefore if I hate sin, my desire will be to defeat it by winning over its possessor. If Christ can win the sinner, He can defeat the sin in the sinner. And when sin is defeated, so is the accuser of our brethren.[1] There has always been and there will always be a price to be paid for sin. There is only one of two payments to be made: either the life of the sinner or the life of Christ. It is a choice the sinner makes. Either our sins follow us to the grave, or they followed Christ to His grave. The great difference is that Christ left our sins in the grave.
