The Degrees of Prayer

I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Devotional
For who do you earnestly pray? Most of us would have to answer, ourselves and we should. However, we are scripturally urged to pray for others as well. Supplication is to pray with earnest humility. Intercessory prayer is standing in the gap prayer. It says, "Lord what can I do that this prayer is answered?" Being thankful for others will in itself cause us to pray. We are to pray for our peers and for the authorities in our lives and there are many of each. Let us pray for our families, church and associates. Let us pray for our local, state and national leaders. Let us pray for our pastors, teachers and mentors. Pray for the poor. Pray for our enemies and those without the saving knowledge of Christ. As you can see, there is much for which to pray. Prayer can be a full time ministry. At just about every church there is a prayer ministry, you may wish to be part of one.
