When we read the simplicity of the Pastoral Epistles one would wonder where the deep, dark theologies of the church were born. The longer I walk in the faith, the more clearly I see the simplicity of righteousness and the complexity of sin. As a novice, I can remember seeing these in the reverse. I thought sin was simple and righteousness complex. Here we have the dilemma of our day. There are those whose answers to the problems of our day are complex laws and programs. Yes sin is complex, but God's answers to sin are simple, even to the point that a little child can understand them.[1] Likewise in the church we are to, as the apostle Paul instructed Titus, "Speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine." I am not saying that the book of Titus is all encompassing, but I am saying that anyone who complicates the simplicity of God's Word is using what is falsely called knowledge.
