Title

Leaders Are Givers

Scripture
Many entreat the favor of the nobility, and every man is a friend to one who gives gifts.
(Proverbs 19:6)
Devotional
People are drawn to people who either are givers or leaders; inevitably, they are one-in-the-same. All givers may not be leaders, but all leaders are givers. It is impossible to truly lead without giving of yourself and your resources. To lead without giving is to lord-over. Leaders are givers, while tyrants are takers. Few if any people rebel against a benevolent leader; instead they entreat his or her favor. Therefore, let us ask: am I in the position of leadership? Do others seek my favor? Do I have true friends? Well, if I wish to be a noble leader, I must give of myself wholeheartedly, if not I am or will become a tyrant. Here is the coup de grace of leadership: if I lead for selfish motives and begin to take instead of give, I have become a tyrant and will without doubt I will lose the favor and respect of those I have endeavored to lead.
