Title

Grow Up, Not Just Older

Scripture
“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.”
(1 Corinthians 3:1)
Devotional
How sad that many of our churches have to remain spiritual incubators because God’s children refuse to grow up! Can you imagine having to constantly deal with your grown children as adolescents? Nevertheless oft times that is exactly what our Heavenly Father has to do with us.
I have known Christians who, instead of being ten or twenty years old in the Lord, do no more than repeat their first year over and over again. They are saved. They have put their faith and trust in Christ, but they have never grown in His grace and knowledge. They never mature, never grow, and never acquire any level of spiritual maturity. They are spiritually retarded.
Let us remember that being born again is the beginning of salvation, not the end. We are to never stop growing. May the Lord be able to speak to us as spiritual people not as carnal, as babes in Christ.
Thought For The Night
“God’s work in our lives can be painful, but his ultimate goal is to transform us into something better…You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage, but he is building up a palace. He intends to come and live in it himself.” C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Defining: “Growing up” is not the same as growing older. There are many immature, elderly people. Growing up is the ability and willingness to put away childish things.

Referencing: “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things,” 1 Corinthians 13:11.

Applying: Put away childish things and become childlike. And know that there is a drastic difference.
