Title

It's Just Prudent

Scripture
Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool lays open his folly.
(Proverbs 13:16)
Devotional
Prudence is a seldom-used word because it is a seldom-practiced quality. By definition, prudence is the careful management of economy. And economy is the careful, thrifty management of our resources, such as finances, possessions, and abilities. Prudence is not rocket science. It is simply doing what you know to do and learning to do it better. It does not take great intelligence for example to know that if you spend more than you make, that you will soon find yourself in debt. Knowing this and heeding it is prudence. It is acting with knowledge. Not to pay attention to it is by all means, folly. And folly is willful foolishness. It is, as James 4:17 says, "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."[5] Which do you practice: prudence or folly? To know the answer is the beginning of prudence. To heed the answer is prudence.
