Parenting

Scripture
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding.
(Proverbs 4:1)
Devotional
Our parents, as long as they are alive, have been at the exact age we are now. They have experienced childhood and adolescence. They have been teenagers. We live in a youth oriented society. Parenting is relegated by some to antiquity. Children are no longer the obligation of parents, but of government and educational systems. Parents are often mistakenly told that they must understand their children. That never occurred to my parents. It was not their obligation to understand me; it was my responsibility to understand them. Children are not to be the authorities in the home. They are to be subject to the authority of the home. There is to be alignment in the family. Dad the greatest burden of leadership is to fall on you. As parents we are to instruct our children in the way of understanding. Children need to understand their parents, they do not have to agree with them, but they do have to obey.[11]
