Title

Preserving The Next Generation

Scripture
There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, and whose fangs are like knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
(Proverbs 30:14)
Devotional
What makes one generation loyal and another unfaithful? Why was their great patriotism in the forties and fifties and such rebellion in the sixties? What makes one generation generous and another selfish? I believe the answer is always found with a people's relationship to God. As ancient Israel prospered in one generation they would turn from God in the next. As God would chastise them in one generation they would return to Him in the next. We have this tendency for one generation to turn from God when He blesses and for another to turn to Him when He rebukes. I am convinced that this does not have to be the case. Let us not forget God in our prosperity and we will not have to be disciplined with poverty. We must teach our children not to take for granted God's goodness and blessing, to do so may just keep them from being a rebellious generation.
