He Is Coming Back

Scripture
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. ,
(Zechariah 9:9)
Devotional
We have read of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem in the gospels.[1] Here we have the origin of the fulfilled prophecy. Israel was looking for a conquering Messiah, someone to deliver them from the oppression of Rome. Nevertheless their King came in all humility riding on a young donkey. Yet Jerusalem was called to rejoice for this Messiah was a conquering Savior. He saved not only Israel, but also the world from sin and death. He came bringing salvation the first time; He is coming in wrath the next. His wrath will be poured out on the sons of disobedience.[2] The first time He came and a few saw Him; the next time He comes the world will see Him. We are to rejoice in the conquering Messiah and we are to rejoice in the promise of His return. Therefore, "Look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."[3]
