For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Devotional
“Forgiveness” is an immense word. Without it, there can be no relationship with God. It is a requirement for all. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Furthermore, we are to seek forgiveness from God, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” It is, likewise, required that we forgive each other. Christ clearly teaches that if we fail to forgive each other we will not be forgiven from heaven. Therefore, the only reason that we do not forgive each other is because we have not sought forgiveness from God. When we hold a grudge or are resentful toward another, we are, in essence, saying that we do not want forgiveness from God. How foolish! Therefore, be quick to forgive because you have been forgiven for a greater offense. Not only is it wise, it is commanded.
