Saying It Doesn’t Get It

Scripture
Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
(Matthew 7:21)
Devotional
I don’t want to be numbered with those who have a false sense of religion, saying the right words, but doing the wrong works. I want, more than anything, to be numbered with the obedient to Christ. I desire to be not just a hearer of the Word, but a doer as well. I tremble at the thought of those who constantly mouth their faith, but do their own thing. There are those who perpetually tell others what they’re going to do instead of receiving instruction and counsel in what they should do. When they do seek instruction and counsel, they seek from the world instead of from the mind of God. They are people of wrong priorities. They suppose that godliness is a means of financial or social gain. We must constantly examine our motives, and the reasoning behind the things that we do. We must ask, “Am I truly doing the will of my Father in heaven?”
