Title

The Delusional Servant

Scripture
I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?
(Matthew 18:32-33)
Devotional
We sometimes forget from where we came. We sometimes forget that we were hell bound and that, if it were not for the mercy and grace of God, we would never have been forgiven our sin-debt. Therefore, we contemptuously judge others. We foolishly judge and condemn that which we not only have no right to judge, but we judge wrongly with no understanding. We measure others by our standards and our own self-righteousness. We call not for mercy, but for judgment, which mistakenly we call justice. We forget that judgment belongs to the Lord, and that when justice is separated from mercy that there is nothing left but wrath. We forget that, “Judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”(1) Those who call for vengeful judgment are delusional and inevitably miserable. These who judge according to the flesh will most certainly fall under the just judgment of God.
