What Are You Looking For?

Scripture
He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, but trouble will come to him who seeks evil.
(Proverbs 11:27)
Devotional
There is nothing greater to seek than the favor of the Lord. This we can do by walking in obedience to Him, keeping the commandments found in His Word, and by loving His people. God says that when we do it right, we can find favor with not only Him, but also with man. Most of us desire God’s favor, but few of us earnestly seek it. To do something earnestly is to do it with a passion, giving all of our hearts to the endeavor in which we are called. We are to enthusiastically do “good," expecting that “good” to produce favor. Now, on the other hand, if we seek evil, we can expect trouble. “Seeking evil” can be defined as being more concerned with our goals than the approach to those goals. That is, using any means to justify any end. God can’t bless just any path. He can only bless the “good” path.
