Title

The Power of Words

Scripture
He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
(Proverbs 13:3)
Devotional
There are countless warnings in the scriptures with regard to talking too much. The apostle James instructs, “Let every man be swift to hear, and slow to speak.” (1) Because words are so full of power, they should be few. The fewer the words, the safer the words. The fewer the words, the more powerful the words. The fewer the words, the more memorable the words. The apostle Peter says, “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.” We are not only known by our words, we are judged by them. Just about everything we have ever accomplished has been done by the accurate use of words. Words institute marriage, and words cause divorce. Words bring success as well as failure to business. Words can cause wars or bring peace. Words unite or they can separate. Therefore, let your words count and count your words. You will be held accountable for them.
