Title

Why Fool With the Foolish

Scripture
He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
(Proverbs 13:20)
Devotional
There is much wise teaching in this simple Proverb. Paul says it this way, “Do not be deceived: ‘Evil company corrupts good habits.’”(1)
Have you ever been around people who smoke? You notice that the smell of that smoke permeates your clothing and you stink as well. The same applies to being a companion of fools. However, the same applies to keeping company with the wise. Wisdom can and does, as the adage says, “rub off.”
If bad company corrupts good morals, then godly company ought to enhance them. Don’t you wish your children understood this? It seems as if youth have a strong tendency to be attracted to bad company. And some of us have never grown up.
Find and encourage your children to find wise men and women with whom to walk. Why be fools, always fooling with the foolish?
