Title

The Healing Power of Words

Scripture
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
(Proverbs 16:24)
Devotional
I have not been punched since I was in high school. No one has physically meant me harm in decades. However, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words are devastating to me. Our words are powerful; they can heal or hurt, encourage or dishearten. Words make and break relationships, businesses, and even churches. We are to measure and weigh our words diligently. The things we say matter so very much. We should ask ourselves, before we speak, “Are my words going to bring life or hinder it?” Do the things that I say encourage or discourage? We accurately measure our words by making them few, and we rightly weigh them by making them count. In addition, learn to interpret silence as a resounding statement. The appropriate use of silence can also heal or hurt. Use it wisely. Therefore, count your words and make your words count.
