Title

We Have the Heart of the King

Scripture
As the heavens for height and the earth for depth, so the heart of kings is unsearchable.
(Proverbs 25:3)
Devotional
As a believer, you are not only a child of the King, but a king. The book of Revelation tells us, “[He] has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”(1) The world cannot understand the heart and thoughts of the children of God. Isaiah tells us, “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.’”(2) We are not to be surprised when the world mocks our stand and laughs at our ways, nor are we to be discouraged. The unregenerate mind is unable to fathom the things of eternity and the things that truly matter in the scope of life. Therefore, never see yourself as inferior because of the world’s lack of understanding. It is the world that is inferior; because they do not know what you know nor do they know whom you know.

Questions To Ponder
·         Has God indeed made us kings and priests to our God; and shall we really reign
on the earth? See Revelation 5:10.
·         When God’s Word refers to the heart, to what is it metaphorically referring?
·         Are you living your life as a son/daughter of the King?
Morning Study Guide
Defining:  “Unsearchable”: “This postclassical word means ‘inscrutable’ and is used in Romans 11:33 for the mystery of God’s way of judgment… that leads to grace. The term implies that the question of the meaning of this judgment cannot be given any theoretical human answer,” The Theological Dictionary of the New Testament.

Referencing: “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33.

Applying: The king’s heart and the judgments of God may be unsearchable, but God’s mercy, truth, and grace are mysteries revealed in Christ. Search them out.
