Title

The Supply of Obedience

Scripture
The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.
(1 Kings 17:16)
Devotional
When God is with you, He will either supply or preserve what is needed. We are told that when the people wandered in the wilderness for forty years that their garments did not wear out on them. (1) Likewise, when the disciples were called to pay the temple tax, Jesus told Peter, "Go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you." (2) And here in our text, when the widow of Zarephath obeyed the words of the prophet, God gave her and her son the supply that she needed. God can meet our needs from an abundance or a few small fish, as when he fed the multitude.(3) The key to obtaining this miraculous supply is always obedience to the Word of the Lord. God will always bless when we are obedient to the faith. (4)
