Title

Do What He Says

Scripture
So, he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
(Acts 9:6)
Devotional
Here we have the simplest, yet most powerful of prayers, “Lord, what would You have me to do?” It does not matter if you are praying about your health, finances, or relationships, this is the prayer. In it we acknowledge the sovereignty and deity of the Creator, “Lord”. Secondly, we establish our relationship to Him as obedient servants, “What would You have me to do?” We know that God answers prayer; therefore we know that He will guide and instruct us regarding our request. The key to this prayer is having an ear to hear His answer. The thing He may have us to do may not appear to be with regard to the question. Nevertheless, what is required is obedience. You may be praying for a certain need, and He may have you responding contrary to that need. Remember, you prayed, “Lord, what would You have me to do?” Therefore do what He says.
