Title

Right Fear and Reverence

Scripture
“God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.”
(Psalm 89:7)
Devotional
What kind of an attitude do you carry to the house of the Lord, the place we call church? Unfortunately, too many believers attend the fellowship of the believers with an attitude of complacency and apathy. They go to church to be served instead of to serve. They go to receive instead of to give and to be blessed instead of to be a blessing. And we wonder why we are disgruntled with church?
Our text says that God is the one to be greatly feared, not us. He is the one to be held in reverence, not those around Him. We need to get over ourselves and excited about the Lord our God. We are not to take ourselves so seriously but to take the things of God very seriously.
Let us stop fearing each other and reverencing ourselves, and begin to fear and reverence God. In so doing we will receive the blessings of fearing Him and experience the power of His presence.
