Title

God Keeps His Promises

Scripture
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
(2 Corinthians 1:20)
Devotional
The Bible is a book of promises. For the obedient believer, they are all yes and amen; for the unbeliever they are anathema. Heaven is the promise for the believer, hell for the unbeliever. One brings eternal joy, the other temporal happiness. For the believer there is the promise of peace; for the nonbeliever, there is no peace.
When I was a young Christian, there was a saying, “God said it and I believe it and that settles it for me.” I kind of like that, but the truth of the matter is, “God said it and that settles it whether I believe it or not.”
We can unequivocally trust God at His Word. We may not always understand it, nevertheless, we can trust it. I’m not sure, but I believe that it was Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) who once said, “It is not the things in the Bible that I do not understand that trouble me, but the things I do understand.”
