Title

Edging God Out

Scripture
They believed His words; They sang His praise. They soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel.
(Psalm 106:12-13)
Devotional
Herein is a too often sad commentary on God’s people. When we believe His Word, we rejoice and prosper. When we prosper, we forget that it was the Lord that prospered us, and we no longer seek His ways. How foolish we so often become. Praise is so much more than singing songs. Praise is an authoritative indicator of the spiritual condition of God’s people. Praise says, “I believe God and His Word.” It testifies of His grace, mercy and power to save. When true praise diminishes, ego begins, and ego is an acronym for Edging God Out. We stop praising God when we start relying on our own devices. We stop praising when we begin to trust ourselves instead of the one worth trusting. We simply stop praising because we begin to seek our own counsel. Never forget His works in your life, and never stop singing His praises.
