Title

Bragging Rights

Scripture
Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
(Proverbs 27:2)
Devotional
It is not only unbecoming to brag about yourself, it is likewise ungodly. Isaiah says it this way, “Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it?” Everything we have is from the Lord. Therefore, everything we accomplish is to bring Him the glory. We can be thankful and even rejoice in the things that we do. Nevertheless, It is foolish to boast as if we created ourselves. Whether in art, sports, business, or any endeavor, let God be glorified. This is not mere piety; it is simply right. The more glory God receives the more ability we will have. If we praise Him for what He is doing in our lives, He in turn will provide the resources to achieve even more. Therefore, publicly praise and thank Him. If you receive praise from another, simply say praise the Lord and thank you.
