Dull-hearted?

Scripture
For the shepherds have become dull-hearted, and have not sought the LORD; therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
(Jeremiah 10:21)
Devotional
Think about the term, “dull-hearted”. Can you see that person? He or she has no joy, no peace. There is nothing that excites him or moves her on in life. How sad!
What causes some people to become dull-hearted? The answer is given in our text: they “have not sought the LORD.” Likewise, how do we know if we are dull-hearted? Again, the answer is found here: “therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.” Dare to ask yourself, “Am I prospering? Have those who are the dearest to me scattered?” If so, you can be assured that somewhere, somehow, you have become “dull-hearted.”
How do I turn my dull heart into a heart of brightness and joy? One more time, Jeremiah has the answer: Seek the Lord. He is not hiding from you. He can be found in His Word and in His Church. Seek Him, for He is willing to sharpen the dull-hearted.
